General Information

My saddles are designed to help both animal and rider to function and feel better on the trail. There is extra gullet height for wither clearance on hard up and down hill trails. My saddles have a large air channel to provide clearance and cooling for the animal’s spinal column.

I highly recommend a 7/8's style rigging. A flat plate 3-way (7/8 or 3/4) rigging is used on most mule saddles. This helps get the cincha farther back to help prevent galling behind the animals front legs (the elbow). I offer several rigging options, from full double to 1/2 centerfire. All rigging is made with heavy leather and heavily reinforced for maximum strength, performance, and safety.

The seat (ground seat) is hand formed to a deep seat with a 4" or 5" cantle for riding security and comfort. Other heights, and blade, or Cheyenne roll are available.

Stirrup leathers are mounted slightly forward and "freed-up" to give more swing or movement than production saddles. This allows you to better position your legs and body for obstacles, up and down hill trails, and other working or performance situations, which also helps your mule or horse. Stirrup leathers can be set to your specification.

I use heavy, long saddle strings. Extra tie rings under the rear jockey are optional. Crupper rings and breeching Ds are standard on all mule saddles.

Your custom saddle can be entirely designed to your specifications for that one-of-a-kind saddle. I will work with you on any modifications or ideas you have, to insure your satisfaction.

Custom horse and mule saddles can be hand carved or tooled as you wish. Accessories can be made to match any saddle I make. Special items are welcome. Custom initials or brand can be stamped or carved on the fenders at no additional cost. I will also work with any physically disadvantaged rider who may have a special need in a saddle.

I run a small, customer oriented saddle shop and am open locally by appointment only. I keep my saddle prices down by cutting overhead, not quality. If you call, you may get my voice mail, but I may be working on a process that can't be interrupted at that time. But please leave your name, number, and the best time to call and I will call at your convenience. The best time to call here is 7 AM to noon Mountain time on weekdays.
