About D. R. Schrader I have made my living with horses and mules: shoeing, breaking and training, packing and outfitting, a little cowboying, and a little rodeoing. I have been building hand-made, custom horse and mule saddles, one at a time, for over 20 years. My work has been featured in Leather Crafters Journal, Arizona Highways, Western Horseman, and other publications. My saddles and gear are used by working cowboys, outfitters, trainers, re-enactment enthusiasts, mounted cowboy shooters, and pleasure trail riders. I have several hundred saddles in almost every State, from Alabama to Alaska, and in several countries including Canada, England, Germany, Australia, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. I use my saddles and gear on my own horses and mules. I use them hard, and expect them to hold up. And, I expect them to fit and be comfortable.
